George Washington: First of Forty-Six

George Washington was born February 22, 1732, and inaugurated as the first president of the United States of America in 1789 at the age of 57. He was a leading figure in many historic events and early government development, including the American Revolutionary War, the Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution of the United States of America. Today his profile graces our one dollar bill.
